Consumer confidence, GDP and jobs -- a challenging week of data for those who would like to see the economy as "on the verge of recovery" when all the data is more likely to say "on the verge of plunging into a deeper recession". The jobs report could be especially telling. Consumer confidence today showed a nation unwilling to spend money as the perceived risks of recession, terrorism and unemployment loom large on their television sets. What do you think the media will do with negative gdp and a surge in unemployment?
