The plume is black at the top not white, so indicates to me weapons and buildings, as well, and maybe an aircraft considering the nearby hangar.

If you tell everyone to "leave or die", and create some serious overpressure over a square mile or so, it's bound to cause a reduction in tunnel-based opponents, I would think.

That would be the humane way to clear territory, right, Len?

Looks like the idea is to occupy Kabul first, then Kandahar.
