Repeater Technologies Introduces High-Powered Channelized CDMA Two-Carrier Repeaters
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 31, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
RC1920C And RL1920C Launch RepeaterCell Line With New Higher Capacity Platform, 10 Watts Per Carrier And Fiber-Optic Link Option
Repeater Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:RPTR), a leading provider of coverage enhancement products and engineering and consulting services to wireless carriers worldwide, today introduced its channelized RC1920C and RL1920C PCS CDMA Repeaters, which the company believes are the highest-powered two-carrier repeaters available for existing and next-generation (3G/1xRTT) networks.
"We believe the RC/RL1920C surpass the competition in price-performance, providing an industry-leading 10 watts of power output per carrier and two CDMA carriers in one cabinet," said Joel Spina, vice president, marketing and business development, for Repeater Technologies.
"This power level makes the RC/RL1920C ideal choices for network operators seeking to enhance coverage in rural, suburban and urban areas, as well as in-building applications for arenas, convention centers and other settings."
The RC/RL1920C offer operators a lower cost solution for network coverage enhancement compared with pure base station deployment, costing as little as 50 percent of the alternative. In addition to the cost savings, deployments can be completed quickly to help network operators stay ahead of fast-growing coverage needs.
The RL1920C model provides a fiber-optic link between the signal source and the repeater, allowing deployment of this cost-effective coverage enhancement solution where lack of line-of-sight or other circumstances impede an over-the-air linkage.
Repeater Technologies is inaugurating its new RepeaterCell line with the introduction of the RC/RL1920C. The RepeaterCell product family embodies a new hardware platform that encloses all components in a sleek rectangular container and consumes only about 10 percent of the physical space compared with equivalent base stations.
Another unique feature of the RC/RL1920C is Repeater Technologies' patented Receive Diversity technology. This technology ensures that network quality is maintained by increasing mobile battery talk time and reducing Reverse Frame Error Rate and dropped calls.
The RC/RL1920C offer a built-in battery charger for a backup power source. The new repeaters also enable dial-up monitoring, so that network operations personnel can remotely check performance status via telephone.
The RC/RL1920C can be used as part of Repeater Technologies' unique RepeaterHybrid Network (RHN) concept, which enhances the use of repeaters even further. RHN is a deployment model utilized in suburban and rural areas where RF coverage is the primary driver. By using a combination of base stations and repeaters, base station count can drop by half for suburban and by two-thirds for rural coverage compared with a traditional all-base station deployment.
