SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Asia Global Crossing announced today that it has been granted the Specific Service Provider and Value Added Service Provider licenses by the Ministry of Information and Communications. The Specific Service Provider license allows Asia Global Crossing to provide voice and resell International Private Line Circuits, while the Value Added Service Provider license allows the provision of Frame Relay, ATM, IP Transit, Virtual Private Networks, Direct Internet Access, and other specified services. The licenses are in addition to the Network Provider license already held by DACOM Crossing, a joint venture among Asia Global Crossing, DACOM, and OPICOM.

With the recent East Asia Crossing landing in Korea, Asia Global Crossing and DACOM Crossing bring unprecedented capacity to enterprises in Seoul. East Asia Crossing already connects Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. It is expected to land in Singapore at the end of 2001, connect Malaysia and the Philippines in early 2002, and China as regulations permits. East Asia Crossing is the first privately owned, and upon completion, fully redundant pan-Asian subsea cable system. As part of the Asia Global Crossing and Global Crossing network, the world's most extensive IP-based fiber optic network, East Asia Crossing connects Seoul to more than 200 major business centers in 27 countries worldwide.

``We recently landed in Korea and, in a significantly short amount of time, we have obtained all the required licenses. Asia Global Crossing is well- positioned to address the growing bandwidth demand in Korea,'' said John Legere, chief executive officer of Asia Global Crossing.

``The licenses enable us to provide a highly competitive IP product suite to carriers, ISPs and enterprises in Seoul via our seamless, city-to-city global network,'' said Ki Young Im, managing director, Asia Global Crossing Korea. ``With the Specific Service Provider and the Value Added Service Provider licenses, we are well-positioned in Korea to serve carrier, ISP, and enterprise customers.''
