Are you feeling better yet? ;-) Lisa, I don't have a position in Dell, if that makes you feel better. Did you buy Oct 75 CPQ call options like I did on April 21, 1997, for $8-7/8? Am I clueless? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It was smart of me to buy the CPQ calls, but clueless of me to bail out of them for "only" $14.00 April 30th. When I bought some DELL on 3-05-96 as my first stock purchase of my life, I thought I was pretty smart. And of course, I was :). I paid a split adjusted $14.50/shr for it. But it was pretty clueless of me to sell it a month later for "only" $20.50. Still, +40% on my first trade, I was FEELING pretty smart.

I bought some ALYD stock at 9-7/8 on April 21, 1997, after doing the requisite research. I was feeling kind of clueless for 2 months there, while the stock traded flat, and every index around beat ALYD. But, being a stubborn sorta guy, I hung in there. closed today at 20 on volume of 530,000. Today's activity wasn't reflected on this Yahoo chart when I posted the link.

If I'm a clueless asshole, I guess I can live with that!!! -GGG-

PS - Really, Lisa. Dell puts? Uh uh......bad idea. If you know ANYTHING about buying good quality, well performing computers for competitive prices, you'll know that it's NEVER wise to go short DELL. I'm not saying that some stocks aren't way over-valued. I know, I was short ZITL (puts) for 2-1/2 months, but still only came away with 15% profit.
