BRK.B closed at $1595 today. I'd like to buy my first 5 shares, but the 45% appreciation since the beginning of the year scares me (and perhaps you). On the other hand, it is up "only" 33% since its opening price of $1200 in May 1996. I intend to hold these shares very long term, with a ten-year minimum, and to continue to purchase about one share/month. Should I just bite the bullet and buy now? Trust my gut that there will be a correction and I can buy at 1500 to save a measly 500 bucks? Or should I take the view that it really won't make much difference since I will always be buying a share per month, thereby smoothing out over the long term the discrepancies between share value and intrinsic value? I am leaning toward buying now, but would appreciate anyone's thoughts. I should add that I am struck by this stock's stability during the two 100-plus point plunges this week. Even if the DOW corrects, will this stock?
