I am trying to show you that in the Islamic writings the violence is open ended, pertaining to here and now, and offensive. Look at my conversation with Amein as evidence.
In the bible, violence, it is closed ended, to specific time and place, and totally defensive. There is historical evidence that proves this. And if the violent parts of the Qu'ran are the same way, I'm trying to give the opportunity for someone that knows about it to prove it to me. I am trying to stay open-minded.
But you would have to study Christianity, and the violence in the bible, to examine why it is there, if it is open ended or closed ended, and is it offensive or defensive. If you want to explore the bible, start another thread and we can talk about the violence in the bible specifically, and see what shakes out....
Additionally, if you know anyhting about Jesus and his teachings, as you say you do, you realize he never taught violence. In fact he bent over backward to teach love and forgiveness. So even to think Christianity has the slightest bit of violent content in it, is ridiculuous. In fact, I know someone right now that is telling me that they have a hard time embracing Christianity because it is too loving and forgiving.
