Its a fast growing religion because a man is allowed to have 4 wives. In most other beliefs, just one. So if you have children with four wives verse one, you can see why it grows so fast.
Also, people are born into their religion without investigating it all the time. Most are in America today. They are a religion because they are born into it, not necessarily accept it as a result of investigation. So growth in religion is not a good measuring tool without investigating the fundamentals about the growth. Its sort of like stocks. Just because a stock goes up and people start buying it, does that make it fundamentally sound and a good investment? I figured I throw this is because this is a stock board....
And as far as my extremist interpretation, I am playing devils advocate. I am saying if I, or anyone for that matter, can justify a radical interpretation, even bin Laden, from the Islamic writings, even if most Muslim's don't, should we just accept Islamic faith is OK? If we do, then we must accept the radicals beliefs. And if that's what people want to do, thats what they want to do....
