Also, I do not think wieght is as critical as it once was with regard to cell phones--the most critical factor for them is clearly volume. This is also begining to happen in the lap-top market. Consider AER, they have great weight ratings but the battery just takes up too much volume. Not that lithium polymer takes up too much volume relative to other composites rather it is critical to take up the least volume as possible. I would be most interested in volume ratings on any company especially ones I am not familar with (AT&T battery, Japan Storage, etc). I am also concerned with cycle lives. That information has been a little harder to verify. The companies with the highest theoratical ratings seem to be lithium metal polymer. I gave some info on some that are in production and some on prototypes but I think the most interesting ones are those that are still being developed. Theoritical estimates have been published as high as 300 whr/kg and 900 whr/l (do you know of any others?). Whether they can achieve this anytime soon is doubtful considering the trouble the industry has had just commericalizing li-ion polymer hybrids like the bellcore battery. I think the bellcore derivatives have been explored and valence has been extensively discussed at the valence thread so let's try and find out something new and avoid debating companies which will provoke emotional responses from other posters (including myself).
