Price per SF depends a great deal on two variables:
cost of labor at locally prevailing wage rates
and quality of construction materials and finishing details.
A basic starter home with linoleum floors in kitchen/baths, basic woodwork, the least expensive cabinetry and plumbing fixtures, 8-ft. ceilings, etc......
is a very different price than a home with....
ceramic tile, granite, Corian, marble, custom moldings, top-of-the-line cabinets, 6-panel doors, Pella windows, brick on all sides, multiple fireplaces, top-of-the-line hardware, hardwood floors, etc.
When a builder quotes a price-per-SF cost around here, it starts somewhere around $150 and goes up to infinity depending on what details go into the house. |
