Both are analysis tools, and both are predictive, agreed.

Disagree on TA being predictive. Good TA looks for a trend and trades the trend until it ends. Some TA may claim to be predictive, but it is usually after the fact.

The definition of TA according to John J. Murphy. "Technical Analysis is the study of market action, primarily through the use of charts, for the purpose of forecasting future price trends."

Forecasting is a short term uncertain sport and econometric predicting is a long term science. Weather forecasting comes to mind. It is relatively accurate for tomorrow's weather, but not next year's weather. <G>
