I agree, the $100 billion is poorly distributed, mostly to campaign donors. That's about $500 per adult, of which maybe half will be directly beneficial. I consider that to be about the efficiency of government, about 50%. This is why the less gov't the better. Your money does better in your own pocket.
Now, about the other sorry things in the Turnipseed article: war is hell, and full of misinformation, perhaps 10% of which is correct. However, it is hard to conceive of a way to wage war in a more precision manner than we have thus far. The only way would be a completely economic approach, which the American public would not stand for.
In any event, there is much to complain about in life, the question is what do you focus on, what is your point, and what is your solution?
As far as joblessness, the war effort and the Fed are cooking the economy back up.
As far as an approved US policy of viciousness against another country... not many would agree. Any viciousness has to be covert; the citizens won't tolerate it.
I enjoy CounterPunch and other such pubs. If we don't read everything we can get our hands on we'll be led down the garden path. I know we have criminals in government - I also know we have terrorists trying to kill me and my kids.
Sure, I'd love to see resolution of the threat of Islamic viciousness to the American people without combat, but at some point you have to.
