"Private workers with federal oversight" is a fancy way of saying "We're going to keep hiring people for $6 an hour and 'federal oversight' is going to drastically improve job performance.'" Hogwash. You get what you pay for. Or as I always tell my wife and co-workers: "You can't argue with anyone making minimum wage." We need federal baggage checkers for the same reason we need federal Secret Service agents (as opposed to rent-a-cops) protecting the president. This one is truly a no-brainer. Yet Dick Armey and "Bugsie" DeLay are playing politics (because of the union angle) instead of addressing America's security problems pronto.
