All I have is a judgment based on articles including Intel's paper published at a conference and the reports of the IBM and Motorola experiences that are marginal at best. As an old dog, I remember that for last 15 years or so SOI was supposed to be the next great thing just around the corner. But it is always out of reach. Remember bubble memory technology in the early 70's and forward? It was supposed to be next great mass storage device that was going to obsolete magnetic disc drives. That never happened.
