Well, Blow-Daddy, sales, marketing, and other non-fab-related things go into the "cost to release" a cpu, don't they? Including them (as you have done to come up with AMD's $72 cost per cpu), Intel definitely spent more than $72 per cpu. If you assume that AMD and Intel spend a similar relative amount outside the fabs [I'll have to check the 10qs to see if this is a valid assumption], each Intel cpu costs a little bit more to physically produce than does each AMD cpu.
