Infonet Globalizes ERP Processes for Multimedia Industry Leader Cinram International Fast, Reliable and Scalable Global Communication Solutions Were Key in the Selection Process biz.yahoo.com EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2001-- Infonet Services Corp. (NYSE:IN;FSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinational corporations, today announced it is globalizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and customer-facing applications for Cinram International Inc. (Nasdaq:CNRM - news; TSE:CRW - news), one of the largest independent providers of pre-recorded multimedia products and services. Cinram is relying on Infonet's global network to support the company as it rolls out its system applications.
With 3,000 employees operating from both local and remote locations and with 6,000 customers accessing its network worldwide, the company needed to improve the efficiency of its global communications. Simultaneously, Cinram wanted to ensure new levels of responsiveness and flexibility in customer service and product distribution.
Infonet's World Network combined with Cinram's new IT infrastructure has created a strategic advantage for Cinram, enabling the company to win significant new business opportunities and increase revenue.
With facilities in Canada, the United States, Europe and Latin America, Cinram manufactures and distributes pre-recorded VHS video cassettes, audio cassettes, music CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs for motion picture studios, music labels, publishers and computer software companies globally.
Cinram's eight manufacturing sites have hundreds of users relying on its ERP system. In the past, these users experienced unreliable connections, dropped sessions, poor response time, frequent interruptions and brownouts. This led to a tremendous loss of business for the company. Customers were also frustrated by their inability to access information relative to sales orders, available inventory and delivery information.
In addition, the previous provider was unable to effectively manage Cinram's other enterprise applications, subcontracted to additional service providers and offered no single point of contact.
``Cinram works in the background on behalf of our customers -- yet we provide all information to them through our network. My challenge is to deliver fast, reliable and scalable communication services internally and externally -- in both easy-to-reach and remote locations,'' stated Patrick Philosophe, Cinram's technical and communications manager.
``With Infonet, we have a partner willing to address our requirements now -- and as we grow. We finally have the end-to-end control and the ability to resolve issues that we have been seeking,'' he remarked.
Infonet has established an effective communications infrastructure for Cinram and continues to monitor it to ensure reliability.
``Defining and prioritizing Cinram's applications, guaranteeing priority delivery and bandwidth inside the network and localizing Internet access are all requirements we are happy to meet. Providing a single point of contact, single invoice and end-to-end resolution reflect Infonet's commitment to Cinram and to all our multinational clients,'' concluded Kevin Landry, Infonet's vice president and general manager for the region. |
