Tripath Powers World's First 4 X 100W In-Dash Car Audio Head Unit
Class-T(TM) 1-Bit Digital Audio Amplifiers Cranks Out Big Sound in Panasonic's Car Audio Sound System
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Tripath Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: TRPH - news), creators of Digital Power Processing (DPP®), announced today that Matsushita Communication Industrial (MCI) has selected Class-T(TM) 1-bit digital audio amplifiers to power its car audio CD, AM/FM, 4 x 100W, in dash tuner head unit. MCI, whose brand is known as Panasonic, selected Tripath's Class-T TA2022 1-bit digital audio amplifier for its high-quality sound capability that can easily be accommodated in a standard car dash head unit. Panasonic, the first to produce such a powerful unit will use two TA2022s to create high-quality sound with low distortion and low power consumption. Tripath is the only company that can offer 100W of power per channel directly in the dashboard. All other companies are limited to only 40W with high distortion, due to the heat generated by their amplifiers.

``We are pleased to be part of Panasonic's revolutionary in-dash car audio head unit,'' said Dr. Adya Tripathi, Chairman, President and CEO for Tripath. ``We feel Panasonic's acceptance of our Digital Power Processing (DPP) technology exemplifies the broad range of consumer audio products using Class-T 1-bit digital audio amplifiers.''

``The car audio CD, AM/FM, 4 x 100W, tuner head unit was welcomed with enthusiasm at the Tokyo Motor Show,'' said Mr. Takeshi Miyagawa, MCI's General Manager, Engineering Department, Car System Business Unit, Car-Multi-Media Company. ``The high quality sound and significant power that can be generated from Tripath's Class-T 1-bit digital audio amplifier helps Panasonic differentiate itself from other in-dash solutions on the market. Their technology helped Panasonic create a product that enables listeners to enjoy exceptional-quality sound without the need of a heavy trunk amplifier.''

Panasonic's world's first car audio CD, AM/FM, 4 x 100W, tuner head unit offers high-quality sound with low distortion (THD: <1% at 100W). The efficient Digital Power Processing (DPP) technology enables powerful sound with heat efficiency preferred in-dash head units.

About Class-T(TM) 1-bit Digital Audio Amplifier

Tripath's Class-T 1-bit digital audio amplifiers rely on a fundamentally new approach to amplifier design that uses semiconductor-based amplifiers that provide significant performance, power efficiency, size, weight and cost advantages over traditional amplifier technology. Instead of conventional pulse width modulation, Class-T employs multiple signal processing techniques, including adaptive/predicative processing, noise shaping, pre-distortion and delta-sigma modulation.
