Usually Sikhs only wear a turban if they have long hair or the ones that don't have long hair will usually only wear it for special occasions like weddings and going to the temple.

The majority of Sikhs who wear a turban going onto a plane have very long hair. They could not wear a turban but then they would look like 1970's rock stars ... which is something they really don't want to do.<ggg> My Dad used to tell me that having long hair gave you more power ... he said see that's why rock stars are so popular! Seriously he actually said that ... Sikhs would laugh their heads off at this statement but that's my Dad. He has long hair and wears a turban ... he also has a very long beard.

I don't know if a Sikh HAS to wear a Turbin,I don't know the ins and outs of Sikhdom. :-) But if they don't why wear one to get on a plane, if you're going to object to having it searched??
