Exactly. My view is this a super cycle economic contraction,

the kind of massive change that occurs - at most - once or twice every 100 years.

And it's fueled by the collapse in demand spurred by the overwhelming though understandable climate of fear that right now is bringing about the implosion of the greatest debt pyramid of all time.

People are doing less shopping, traveling... You name it and there's less demand for it as layoffs and unemployment accelerate.

IMO, prices are going to continue to plummet on almost everything. Saw reg unleaded for $1.05/gal last night. Soon to cross into double digits. Tic toc....

America will survive. But the "American Empire" as it was IMAGINED by Washington political ego during the past 10 years will not, in my opinion.

America is beginning one of the biggest "attitude adjustments" in it's history. The bloody nose we're getting is teaching us the extent of our limitations economically, politically and militarily the cold hard way the real world delivers the tab to any society that's vastly overextended in every direction you look and been living beyond it's means on a scale that's nothing short of mind boggling.

I love my country. And wish it were otherwise.

But an understanding of the broad sweep of historical trends leaves little doubt about what's unfolding before our eyes.
