Hi Lola. Here is what I said in my post....." Well its about time! Its ok for me to be stripped searched at an airport because I don't look like I'm from the ME. But it's wrong to search someone that does look like they may be from the ME. How did our countries ever get so screwed up.......Politically Correct is how.
If strip searching me and others no matter what their religion or how they look will help protect my life and the lives of others then do it and to h*ll with special interest groups.

You said..." I have news for you. Sikhs are not from the middle east and they are quite distinguishable from people from ME.".....

This is not news to me, my work partner for 10 years was a Sikh and come to think of it his last name was Singh nice guy and we had a good time together.

you said..." Sikhs are your friends and may be fighting side by side with you soon if India sends troops ... don't turn your friends into your enemies by being insensitive."...
That also is not news to me. Not sure how you think I may turn Sikhs into my enemies. What did I say to make you think that? I believe that all of us should be treated equally and I will say again that if I am asked to remove some article of clothing at an airport because of safety concerns and I know that all passengers no matter what their religion , color, sex, will be treated the same way
and this is done for the protection of all passengers then this is good and I am all for it. There should be no exceptions.

You said..." There's nothing wrong with profiling ... just don't assume anybody who wears a turban is a Muslim."...

That's the point I was trying to make " there's nothing wrong with profiling" and in my post I was not talking about Sikhs in particular I was talking about the overall systems at the airports where customs officers have been afraid to tell someone that they would be searched for fear that they would be called a racist or be sued. At this time in the world the fear is directed at ME peoples and that is what I was referring to when I said " its about time". Meaning that it is time that we are all treated equally. And I have never ever assumed that anyone who wears a turban is a muslim where did that come from?.

You said....." The Sikh communities have been very vocal in their support of the U.S. in this war ... too bad you guys haven't been paying attention."......

I have been paying very close attention and think I have posted news items about this very thing. When you say " you guys haven't been paying attention " I am not sure what you are getting at. Have you placed me in some special group for some reason??

I understand that the story I posted was about a Sikh person but it could have been about any race of person it could have been a story about an Arab person complaining about being searched because they looked like an Arab person
and I still would have said the same thing.....It is time that we are all treated equally.

My apologies if I offended you that was not my intention.

Lorne
