One has to be intrigued with respect to the parallels across older cultures. For example, the parallel between the belief of Muslims that to die in battle is an entry to paradise and the belief of the Norse that such a death was an entry to Valhalla.

Like in the case of the Kirpan, the Celtic Nations wear a knife, called a Sgian-Duth. I have one mounted on a wall in my office under a Scottish dirk. I bought them in Glasgow some years back.

Like the Sikh, the Irish, Scots and so on wore these hidden knives and unless you knew where to look you would be surprised. The Irish still wear them, but only during St. Patrick's Day Parades. The knife is tucked in the right sock.
