Acrodyne 140kW Analog Quantum-c- Transmitter Ships to Clear Channel Broadcasting Inc. for KASN-TV Little Rock, Arkansas
COCKEYSVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2001--Acrodyne Industries, Inc., a public company (ACROE) and leading manufacturer of high power television transmission systems, announced today the shipment of a Quantum IOT transmitter for KASN-TV in Little Rock, AR, a Clear Channel Broadcasting Inc. station.

It will be installed in November of this year. The Quantum 140QX2, rated at 140kW, is for Clear Channel's analog replacement project. Clear Channel also purchased a Digital 60kW Quantum, that will be shipped in forth quarter 2001.

The Quantum transmitters have been designed for high reliability with simple, elegant solutions and appropriate use of advanced technologies incorporating ``hack proof'' Wide Area Networking capability. It takes full advantage of the latest generation of high power Inductive Output Tubes (IOT) available from all major tube manufacturers and exclusively features plug-in technology and tube removal. Other features include advanced flexibility in the exciter system, positive pressure cooling system that minimizes the number of rotating fans, ``hot-swap'' LDMOS driver amplifiers, linear power supplies leading to high reliability. The system controller is an industrial PC running Linux software for unparalleled system stability and the HPA Controller is Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based. Full system control is available via PC remote connection. Analog meters are used for rapid indication of critical transmitter conditions. All adjustments and calibrations are carried out digitally via the controller front panel.
