isopatch, I have had lots of conversations with my friends in the Democratic party structure re Hispanic vote. From my experience in Latin America, solely my hunch is that the Hispanic vote short term leans Democratic, but long-term helps form the back bone of the Republican Party in the 21st Century.

The U.S. may want to revisit as part of our review of immigration policies whether we want to tilt our immigration policies toward additional Latin American immigration. This could become a hot topic over the next couple of years, strangely moving in the opposite direction of diversifying our energy sources both technologically (renewables) and geographically.
