I think what is now viewed as "politically correct", even on college campuses, has changed significantly since September 11th, and will continue to do so. I read a letter to the editor from a dean at Harvard University recently, in which he busts the rumor that recruiting for the Armed Forces is not allowed on campus. There are also reports that there is much interest on the Berkeley campus in information packets and job applications for the FBI and CIA. This is the only country in the world whose Intellectuals hate their own culture. This point can be argued with on two fronts: First, intellectuals all over the world have written and spoken critically about their own governments and cultures. Think Solzhenitzen, think China, think Salman Rushdie (whose beautifully-written editorial pierce in this morning's NYT was posted here at about 3 AM by our fearless thread leader). Second, I believe your statement might be more factually correct if you added "without fear of reprisal from the government". What are you referring to when you write "our culture" by the way?
