More disturbing news on the Wall Street Journal front page this morning. Jobless rate now at 5.4%. A total of 415,000 people were laid off in October. Most severe slash in 21 years. One of the myths perpetuated by the GOP is that all these job losses are the result of 9-11. Wrong. The Republicans' plan to jump-start the economy is to give $1.4 billion (with a B) in tax breaks to IBM while, at the same time, urinating on the 415,000 people who, through no fault of their own, are now in the unemployment line.
