I think most guess at future capacity needed because it takes time to build or revamp fabs. See Intel's record cap expenditures of $7.5B in 2001. Also, in the 2 past cycles semi equipment stock prices rose and never looked back after SEMI equipment orders reversed up. suite101.com

You can wait for CLEAR signs and buy equips higher and still double your investment, though.
