TGPTNDR, Re: "We had two complaints with the 8KHA+. The first was that for whatever reason, Windows 2000 would not get passed the non-GUI portion of its install with a GeForce3 Ti 500 installed."

This may not be a popular way of thinking, but here it goes:

1) It seems that there are known problems with this motherboard.
2) I don't think Tom's Hardware should be using motherboards with known problems.
3) What other motherboards are available to deliver stable performance to an Athlon?
4) Provide the fastest motherboard in the review that offers a known stable solution.
5) If this lowers the performance of the Athlon, so be it, since stability should be valued over performance.
6) If the Athlon fails to outperform a Pentium 4 using a stable platform, then I would consider that a valid result, while the results with an unstable motherboard would be invalid.

Of course, you'll say that I am saying this just to downplay Athlon performance. I guess that would mean that we value stability in different ways. As a consumer, I would never consider buying an product with known instabilities, so I don't think it should even be offered in a reputable review as a competitive platform.

However, if what people here say is true, there should be many other choices of motherboards for Athlon XP products. I would suggest that the authors of the next Athlon XP review find one of those.
