Any president would have pushed for stimulus, and a real leader would have got a useful one quickly.

One who controled both chambers of congress with solid majorities (as opposed to not having control in the Senante, and having a small majority in the house) may have been able to get one quickly.

I don't know why you think fiscal stimulus in times like these is a bad idea.

Government spending has allready been growing by leaps and bounds. More spending is not the answer. We do need specific spending to deal with the crisis, but the security spending, and even the bailout for the airlines is a different issue. The rate cut was a good idea. Further tax cuts would also be a good idea but would not be as much a response to the attack as just something that is generally good for the economy. Of course if we keep adding more pork it will get pretty hard to have large tax cuts.
