For what it is worth. At this time I have four online brokers. Soon it will be three. Each one has its advantages. My personal opinion is that you should have at least two in case one is experiencing difficulties. 1. ETRADE I have had very little trouble getting on but sometimes they are a little slow. Stock prices are 20 minute delayed. Option costs are reasonable. Trading costs are a little bit to high. 2. DATEK I can go to DATEK from etrade very quickly. Once you have signed on you are on line until you bring NETSCAPE down. They have real time quotes at no cost to you. No options trades. Their costs are $10. Best place to trade stocks. Stock executions are EMAILED to you. 3. JB OXFORD their web site is so slow that by the time that I get through the process of signing on I have forgot what the hell I wanted to do. Option trading costs to much. They stick you with a $23 misc cost if you have options assigned. This is in ADDITION TO the broker fee. I am in the process of closing this account after 15 months trading for many reasons that I will not discuss here... 4. PACIFIC BROKERAGES. This used to be my only account but they did not have a web site until recently. Traded with them via telephone for years. They never screwed up an order for me but sometimes I was not notified of a trade. Their people were very professional and courteous. I will say that online trading has been good for me. There are times that it is slow BUT EVEN AT ITS SLOWEST IT IS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN WAITING FOR SOME PERSON TO ANSWER THE PHONE TO PLACE AN ORDER. Also my trades are time stamped so if I have a problem I can refer to them. I hope that I haven't bored you to death. Lee Swift
