GATA: Howe Lawsuit Goes to Hearing Monday in Boston

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Story Filed: Friday, November 02, 2001 9:00 AM EST

DALLAS, Nov 2, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- A hearing in GATA consultant Reginald H. Howe's gold market manipulation lawsuit against the Bank for International Settlements, the U.S. Federal Reserve Board and Treasury Department, and five bullion banks will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in U.S. District Court in Boston.

Judge Reginald C. Lindsay will hear argument on the defendants' motions to dismiss the lawsuit. If he rejects them, the lawsuit would proceed to what is called discovery, procedures in which the plaintiff may compel the defendants to produce evidence and testimony relevant to the lawsuit prior to trial.

Monday's hearing is open to the public, but new security rules require presentation of two forms of identification with photographs. The hearing will be held in Courtroom 11 on the fifth floor, of the United States Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Way, Boston, Mass., near Boston's South Station.
