Hello gvander, I accidentally hit "full text" on the search check box and my initials caught my attention in your headline. I found your post #68 rather entertaining. Regarding your comment:<<I don't think it is a good idea to rely on fmk -- I know he seems knowledgeable .... I have read all of his posts and he is not one I consider reliable. As I understand it the figure he gave you is not reliable.>>

What amuses me is that I recorded those figures during a converstion with VLNC's engineer in charge of their testing program. I had asked him how their production line samples were testing in terms of specific energy and recharges etc. This was a few months ago, and I was told since that the figures have been improving.

I am not sure if you have as large a laboratory or staff to legitimately challenge his figures, nor do I find it likely that Valence has submitted samples to you to test!

In a separate conversation he explained how chemistry can be altered to enhance one parameter, such as the number of recharges, while sacrificing another, such as the specific energy. I have seen some high recharge specs for other mfr's (something like 1100 @ 80%) when I checked the specific energy, it was indeed lower-- perhaps 120 wh/kg.

Just thought I would pass on a tidbit from a PHD and veteran in chemistry and battery technology who took time to explain some details to a shareholder.

I believe you probably just got a little wound up trying to make a point. It's happened to me before. Thanks for the smile
