I bought MSFT some time ago. As a business result this has looked inevitable for some time. Especially with the current administration and current events.

I note, despite Billy's evasion on CNBC, that they have abused monopoly power as found by the courts. Just because there looks to be a failure of the legal system to mete out a more complete and just result, hardly undermines my thoughts from the beginning about whether MSFT was right in pursuing the predatory practices that they have.

After all even O.J. beat his rap. And surely you would not judge him as having been right.

Ultimately you have to wonder just what Billy gained from all of this. He has more wealth than he could possibly spend in many lifetimes. Yet the apparent settlement, effete or not, does not speak well of his character in the pursuit of his wealth. While I suspect that he feels smug in getting off lighter than practical circumstances have warranted, I think it will be history that shows the world's current richest man in a harsher light than he can ever pay to have covered up. You just can't buy character can you? Even with the less severe settlement being negotiated with the government.
