JW, Buckner belongs in the Hall, but has been scapegoated into infamy. ESPN Classic has run a great documentary the past month about him and that horrid Game 6; Buckner was hurt, Schiraldi had already allowed the Mets to tie after being up by 2 runs with 2 out in the 9th. The Red Sox ultimately were doomed when they brought Bob Stanley in. Buckner got 3 hits in Game 7, and the Sox' bullpen blew another lead, costing them the Series. Buckner gets blamed. Amazingly, he seems pretty philosophical about the whole thing, but his brother, his wife and his kids are still pretty bitter about the abuse he took. So much for playing a kids' game. jpgill
