Australia's Telstra: In Good Shape, Strategies On Track Updated: Monday, October 22, 2001 09:39 PM ET SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Telstra Corp. (TLS, news, msgs) chief executive Ziggy Switkowski said Tuesday that the Australian telecommunications company is in good shape and that its strategies are on track despite a slowdown in the industry. Switkowski said the company's key strategies remain in place and are expected to deliver growth in the future, but overall revenue growth is likely to remain flat in the next two quarters to March 2002. Speaking during a teleconference with journalists and analysts, Switkowski confirmed that the global telecommunications sector is under pressure and Telstra is feeling the effects of this. "The challenges in the short-term remain considerable," Switkowski said.
