Australia's Telstra Sets EUR8 Billion Global Debt Program
November 01, 2001 1:50 AM

SYDNEY -(Dow Jones)- Australia's Telstra Corp. Ltd. (TLS) said Thursday it has established a EUR8 billion global debt issuance program, replacing its existing EUR6 billion program.

The Australian telecommunications company said the new program gives it the flexibility to issue concurrently both in the euro market and in the Australian and New Zealand domestic markets.

Telstra's treasurer, Cliff Davis, said other jurisdictions may be added in the future.

"The terms and conditions of notes issued under the new program are otherwise basically the same as those issued under Telstra's previous program," Davis said.

"Telstra does not have immediate plans to issue off this new program but has historically used its European debt issuance program as a major funding platform and expects this to continue."

JP Morgan arranged the program and two new banks have been added to the original panel taking it to a panel of 15.

Telstra has long-term ratings of Aa3 by Moody's Investors Service, A+ by Standard & Poor's and AA- by Fitch. All ratings are on stable outlook.
