Some senior officials suspect the anthrax letters are the work of domestic extremists fueled by anti- government hatred. Others lean toward Islamic militants
overseas, possibly linked to the Sept. 11 attacks. A few believe the material was sent by a disturbed loner with a personal grievance.


I certainly hope the FBI is looking beyond the US at anthrax cases overseas, and linking everything, not only the US cases. So far we have 2 or 3 confirmed cases in Pakistan (who intially kept it under wrap to avoid panic), and cases in several other middle east countries, which may or may not be hoaxed. Unfortunately, the press in these countries is controlled, so there is no way to know how true these cases are:

Saudi Arabia is the third Gulf country after Bahrain and Kuwait to be hit by the worldwide anthrax scare, following transmission of the disease through suspect mail which has killed four people in the United States.
