<<So far, though, our bombing campaign displays a clear lack of strategic innovation, and our propaganda campaign appears to be equally clueless.>>
I've tried an exercise of the imagination in which it's my job to come up with a strategy (I agree that "a negotiated non-peace will be viewed with derision"), or improve on the leaflet & food propaganda campaign. I know that's ridiculous, me not being exactly famous for my military planning skills and all, but still... you'd think one would be able to think of a hypothetical something, if one has a lively imagination (I know we don't know a lot about what's going on behind the scenes). I have to say, GWB as a leader and representative to the world of America is a confidence-eroding element in the propaganda-picture for me (that is, I just realized, the first negative thought i've breathed about GWB since September 11).
I wonder if others here have thought, Well, if I were running this war, I'd....
and what ideas they come up with-- aside from nukes.
And in the press, what military (as opposed to foreign policy) ideas have been proposed?
What ideas about propaganda?
Edit: the thing about coming up with better military campaign ideas (the idea-link I just posted reminded me of this), is that it's all about radically minimizing American casualties, with the Gulf War as a subliminal (and inapplicable to this situation) benchmark. |
