As far as I know, Aryabhatta not only used the placeholder, he also gave the numeral zero. If you see the numerals, you'll see it clearly in the numeral list.... I meant to discuss not Aryabhatta's part so much...as to say that it was'nt Moslems who gave us Algebra and zero. It existed long before Islam... You may be right about it existing BEFORE aryabhatta... And besides, what they did back then, was BACK THEN Zeev. How long are they going to rest on the past laurels of gone by civilizations ? When are they going to build a WTC indigenously ? When are they going to prevent people from dying ? You gotta give back to the society you take from....all the time...... Cheers.
