RE>> Could we require inspection and certification of containers at the loading port? << We must insist on
it or we are sitting ducks..special seals that can't
easily be duplicated on each inspected container..
----------
Like each inspector would need a machine that
could create a unique seal for all the containers
on a ship..and then transmit that code back to the
US..it would be extensive but it could be done.
IF we don't get a handle on it then we can count
on some serious problems.
This Age of Terrorism is going to be with us for
a long time , likely it will last as long as the
cold war did.
We won't be able to predict every twist and turn it
will take, and thinking we can will be a big mistake
but not inspecting ship cargo containers before
they arrive is like inviting the enemy to deal us a devastating blow.
They were smart enough to plan and hijack 4 planes
within hours of one another, they could send us
bombs via containers to dozens of ports
at the same time with less planing than the
hijackings took.
Tiggered via cell phones with a backup door trigger.
