I am very much aware of that reality. It is the reason why states around the world must take Bush's "with us or with the terrorists" warning with the utmost seriousness.

During the Cold War there were groups in the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. who for nearly half a century did nothing but script the end of the world in myriad ways. There should be no doubt that post 9/11 these same groups in the U.S. and Russia have been busy scripting the end of select parts of the world. When Bush and Putin and Jiang meet it is to reassure each other that should the unthinkable come to pass that the scorching of the planet will be contained. My hope and prayer is that the leadership of so-called "moderate" states fully appreciate this terrible reality and let wisdom guide their paths.
