One significant difference between Islam and most forms of Christianity is the Islamic belief that one's fate is predestined. Muslims believe that nothing happens which is not the will of Allah. So, if you die as a suicide bomber, it is the will of Allah.

I am not sure how to resolve that with the concept of sin, of turning away from God and God's will.

Christians believe in free will, which give us the power to do things which are contrary to the will of God/Allah, the power to sin. Thus, if something happens, we don't say, "it is God's will."
