Is it compatible with existing applications? For instance, can you pour it straight into your existing gas tank and go? Can it replace the myriad non-fuel applications which depend upon oil? Can production be ramped up overnight to meet existing demand? Being from Pennsylvania coal country myself, I can testify to the woeful unpreparedness of that region to even modest increases in coal extraction for example.

Over the long term, sure we can come up with alternatives and build them out. But for a sudden, massive withdrawal of the oil supply there is no substitute. That was my scenario.
