BEWARE OF THE DEAD ZONE. We are now in the earnings dead zone. Most of the companies have reported. And we are a few weeks before warnings. And so it is prime time for analyst calls to churn and burn. What do they have to lose? They can't be proven wrong for a few weeks at least and by then they will have been forgotten.

With respect to the Sox, go back to the end of July and early August which was in a parallel dead zone period. We got a couple brokerage upgrades including one from M. Lynch that propped the Sox up nicely and, of course, that was a high before these stocks turned. We got a dead zone call on Friday from Peter "Leming" (I kid you not)from ABN Ambro.

I think they want to push the Sox up here to around 510 on a closing basis with an intraday spike higher possible. So be on the lookout for dead zone calls. Maybe we will get more tomorrow. Maybe the CSCO will prompt some. But take them for what they are -- an pure effort to manipulate you.

And also beware that tomorrow is a historical up day. Over 80% of the time the Nasdaq has been up on November 5th. It has a fifteen year streak of unbroken ups.
