Let's think about what Mr Hitchens is saying. He appears to saying much of the left holds approximately the same views as the far out Chomsky- something which is not the case. Most of the left supports what we are doing- but of course a bit less enthusiastically than the KILL EM ALL folks of the right. The left has always been a bit more squeamish about killing people (except by abortion- and since I happen to be already born myself, I agree with that distinction). Mr H actually uses the words "The reaction of much of the Left "- even though most everyone seems to be reacting in a pretty similar manner- save for a few fringe elements.

Mr H needs to be angry to keep his place as an infotainment journalist for (gag) Vanity Fair- an appropriate name for a magazine that would carry anything Mr H writes (imo). I suppose whipping up illusionary divisions where there are none is part of entertainment. But looking for causes is not shifting blame, nor is it denial- no matter how many times illogical angry people may say it is. A quest for answers does not shift blame- the ANSWERS may shift blame, but the quest does not. Those who fear asking questions, do not understand the meaning of freedom. And since Mr H is a brit, perhaps he has simply lived in a monarchy too long to understand what really freedom is.
