It's already at 5.4 percent.

My home page is the front page of the Wall Street Journal. First thing I see every morning is "Company X plans to lay off 5,000 more people." Day after day after day. When those headlines disappear and are replaced by "Company X plans to add 5,000 jobs," then I will have reason for optimism.

Right. The recently laid-off guy who has a mortgage to pay and two kids in college should be thankful that he was just laid off because he'll be a stronger person in the long run.

Such thinking is why you vote Republican and I vote Democratic.
