"Media" is such an unbelievably pretentious word to describe anything humans do. Not to completely disregard the integrity of many of them, I think quite a few news journalists and broadcasters actually believe the implication that resides in that term. IMO, the only "media" involved in their business are such things as the electronic signals, videotapes, and the air that sound and light travel through. Edwin Newman decries the use of the term "media" and prefers "News Business." What I like about it, is it allows the audience to evaluate the "product" like any other business produces -- preferring one brand over another, or not buying it at all. (This is not directed at you, though, BubbaFred.)
