I will tell you something that amuses me no end.
Many of the people who identify themselves as leaning to the right, have argued in the past (rather stridently) about the lack of ethics in people who are not absolutists, or <gasp> might not be religious. Yet given a small test of national will (Sept 11) they are willing to scrap the constitution, throw out our basic freedoms (in order to safeguard them, of course) and begin torturing people who might or might not be guilty of anything.

I am but a poor relativist. But my values are still in tact after Sept 11. I still value the protection of freedom, more than I am afraid of those who might abuse it. And I have no interest in my country becoming a rogue and brutal power in order to subdue rogue and brutal (and considerably smaller) powers. The right likes to talk a lot about "wimps" and "eunuchs"- and yet, who is showing the most fear? Seems to me it is the pantywaists of the right. (it's probably a case of nard envy)
