AcSys FRS At ASTA-IATA Press Conference
NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 4 /CNW/ - Nexus Group International Inc.'s (NXS:TSE) AcSys Biometrics Corp. demonstrated its Facial Recognition System (FRS) as a biometric solution for airport security at a press conference held earlier today by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). In front of approximately 100 journalists registered to attend the 2001 ASTA World Travel Congress at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, Mr. William Gaillard, director of corporate communications for IATA, spoke on the adverse impact of the hijackings on the airline industry and its prospects for recovery. He also spoke on how biometrics can be used as a part of an overall security program for airports and the airline industry. AcSys along with two other biometric firms, Campbell, CA-based Recognition Systems, Inc. (RSI), a subsidiary of Ingersoll-Rand Company, and Tacoma, WA-based Sagem Morpho, Inc. (Morpho), a subsidiary of Paris-based SAGEM SA, demonstrated their technologies. AcSys demonstrated its FRS technology, RSI demonstrated hand geometry and Morpho demonstrated its fingerprint technology. AcSys FRS is an advanced face recognition system capable of fulfilling all biometric security needs relating to identity authentication, controlled access, and surveillance. It provides unparalleled verification and identification, true scalability, easy integration, and easy maintenance. The biometric templates it uses to authenticate identity are engrams produced by an advanced artificial neural net known as HNeT (Holographic/Quantum Neural Technology). These engrams, or memory traces, cannot be reverse engineered to build an image of the individual, and thus provide complete data protection. AcSys FRS can be implemented as a stand-alone solution, or integrated with existing security solutions. It requires no proprietary hardware. "Biometric security should not be considered a panacea, but the capabilities provided by AcSys FRS can be critical and effective pieces in a comprehensive security solution that also includes improved procedures, better human intelligence, and local and remote monitoring by intelligence and security operatives," said Jerry Janik, president and CEO AcSys Biometrics Corp. "AcSys FRS can be implemented in a number of scenarios, including check- in and boarding procedures, controlled access to secure areas, and even time and attendance for airport and airline employees." AcSys Biometrics is a joint venture between NEXUS Group International Inc. and AND Corporation, the owner and developer of the patented, proprietary Holographic/Quantum Neural Technology (HNeT). AcSys is the leading-edge provider of facial recognition through its exclusive worldwide license for face and speech recognition based on the core software - HNeT - with applications for the financial, manufacturing, security and medical sectors. NEXUS is a Burlington, Ontario-based, organization focused on leading- edge technologies. Its goal is to position itself as the leader in biometric technology and other advanced fields. NEXUS trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange as NXS. %SEDAR: 00002884E
