And what might those situations be? Assuming the heatsink is properly installed, the only one I can come up with is the plastic on the socket giving way. While I have managed to break one off while trying to install a heatsink, it is hard to imagine how the plastic could be flawed or damaged enough to break, but not break immediately after the heatsink is installed. There is a lot of force holding those things on.
