On a more serious side, I would like to see the running tab total for the last few years of litigation that includes the 18 states involved, all the corporations involved, the government as well as the European costs to date.

I actually don't think the costs were that high. I've heard "tens of millions". I know that boies charged a very low rate (something like $50 an hour). Microsoft's costs surely outpaced the govt's by a wide margin. Whether one agreed or disagreed with the case, the actual cost of legal fees was was small potatoes compared to, say, reining in a monopolist or stifling innovation.
